Nose Art
Like the Army Air Corps crews during WW2 the Air Cav of Vietnam had a special affinity for naming their helicopters and slapping some nose art on. Not only did they paint the helicopters they painted noses, doors, flight helmets, rocket pods, vertical fins, elevators, skids, M21 gun systems, access panels, revetments, hooches and clubs. The California surfer generation even went so far as to wax the helicopters. There were some amazing artists both local and servicemen that left a lasting legacy of some incredible art work and added a definitive flair to their presence in the skies of Southeast-Asia.

All copyright belongs to the veterans who took these and the units that they belonged to. My hope is that more interest in their incredible story will arise and that someday someone will have the balls to finally put a film about them together.
